It’s been about a month since I got this website up and running so I figured it was about time to get my first post out there. First of all I want to thank you for visiting elementalfireplace.com and I hope your time spent here is fruitful. I struggled with coming up with an idea for the first post so I’ve decided to just keep it simple and address, “What is it exactly that you do here?” Well let me tell you…
We specialize in the cleaning, inspection and repair of gas, pellet and wood fireplaces. This includes everything from freestanding stoves, to inserts, to open fireplaces. Most fireplace manufacturers and industry standards recommend having your fireplace serviced at least once a year. This helps ensure trouble free operation and a long appliance life. It is often less expensive and less stressful to perform preventative maintenance than it is to wait until there is a problem. Just think of your car for example. You wouldn’t wait to change your oil until one of your cylinders flies through your hood and into space. This is obvious in the auto industry but in my opinion the fireplace industry hasn’t done a good job of spreading this message. We aim to fix this.
Just like your car, your fireplace is a complex system made up of multiple pieces and parts, many of which are subject to extreme temperatures. They must work together, as a system, to ensure proper and safe operation. When one part degrades or fails, the whole system is affected. At this point in my career I am unaware of any fireplace related parts that self heal, or fix themselves. This is why you need a professional.
Sticking with the car metaphor, you should be extremely picky who you hire as a technician. At the very least you’d want to make sure that the person working on your car has been certified, preferably by a credible certification agency. This is why we boast certifications from the two largest agencies in our industry. We believe it is our duty to our customers, and what sets us apart from our competition. At the time of writing this post we are the only CSIA certified chimney sweep west of the Puget Sound. Most handymen can run a brush down a chimney, or clean the glass on your gas fireplace, but is that who you really want? Would you ask your neighbor to help you replace the brake lines on your truck? Some things are best left to those qualified and certified to perform the work.
I’m generally not a fan of fear based marketing so I’ll only bring this up once to stress the importance. Your fireplace has a real potential to burn your house down or fill it with carbon monoxide. It does not care if you are home or not when it happens. You are literally playing with fire. I do not take the potential risks of this industry lightly, and neither should you. Chimney fires and carbon monoxide poisonings are preventable, but only if problems are caught early on. Please have your fireplace inspected annually by a certified professional and I’d be honored if you chose Elemental Fireplace Solutions. Thanks for reading.
